1800 MW ALBA Power Plant has been completed as an investment of Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C (ALBA). GAMA Power Systems, one of the world’s leading EPC companies in the field of power plants, has completed the turnkey construction of 1800 MW ALBA PS5 Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant together with General Electric under the contract signed 4 years ago with Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C (ALBA) which forms the basis of industry in Bahrain. Within the scope of the project, built for the purpose of fulfilling the electric power demand of ALBA’s sixth aluminum potline and consisting of 3 units in total, acceptance of Unit-1 for commercial operation was made on August 28th 2019, acceptance of Unit-2 for commercial operation was made on October 26th 2019 and acceptance of Unit-3 for commercial operation was made on February 20th 2020.


ALBA Power Plant, which is the largest and regionally the most efficient power plant of Bahrain, is of capital importance also because it is the first power plant having H-Class technology (GE 9HA.01 (three pcs.) gas turbines) established in the Middle East and used in an aluminum plant globally. GE HA gas turbine, built on years of innovation, providing the highest output with the best efficiency, is backed by proven, reliable technology. In the project where occupational health and safety are also prioritized besides technology, 10 million man-hours without a lost-time incident have been achieved. GAMA which has paved the way for Turkish companies both in Bahrain and in the Middle East markets thanks to the great success it has achieved by being selected as “National Winner” for the category of “Power Generation Project of the Year” at the MEED Project Awards with its first project in the country aims at strengthening its position in the region with new projects.
