6×112 MW Birecik Hydroelectric Power Plant and Birecik Dam

The Birecik Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant is located on the Euphrates river in the South Eastern part of Turkey. Birecik Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant is located on the Euphrates river in the South Eastern part of Turkey. Dam crest is more than 2.5 km. long and consist of earth embankment dams on the left and right banks of the river, having a concrete gravity dam section in between, which integrates the spillway and the intake structure to the powerhouse. The dam height is 62.5 m. Power house is equipped with six Francis turbines with 112 MW each, with a total capacity of 672 MW. An annual electricity production of about 2.5 billion kWh is anticipated. In addition, the 56 km2 reservoir is planned to be used for irrigation of 70,000 hectares of farmland. The project is implemented on a “finance-built-operate-transfer” bases, with an operation period of 15 years.

This is the first major project in Turkey to be implemented on finance-built-operate-transfer basis.

Izmit Domestic and Industrial Water Supply Project, Yuvacik Dam

The project mainly consists of the construction of an earthfill dam, installation of a total of 133,290 linear meters of steel and ductile iron water transmission pipe-lines and construction of two booster pumping stations in Built-Operate-Transfer basis.

Ayitli Ash Dam and Hydraulic Ash Transportation System (Soma-B Power Plant)

The Ayitli ash dam and hydraulic ash transport system is an integral part of the Soma-B Power Plant. The dam and the transport system were constructed by GAMA Industry under an annex to the second contract (Unit No. 3 and 4) of the Soma Power Plant contracts.

The project consists of ash fill dam (7,5 km from the plant), height: 85 m, crest length: 595 m, derivation tunnel (725 m long, 3 m dia.), redredging station, hydraulic ash transport system, 12 hydraulic ash transport pipelines (14 inches dia.).
